FOTD: Violet Royalty with Marcelle

Right this moment, I’m having a bit of a love-hate relationship with Marcelle. I mean, it’s mainly love, but there’s a little bit of hate and resentment packed in there too.

Why, you ask? Well, on one hand, they’ve created an amazing collection at mid-range / high-end drugstore prices. But on the other, this means that I’m going to have to recommend everything in my upcoming reviews, and you’re all going to (a) be broke and (b) hate me, or (c) not be able to find it and (d) hate me anyways.

They had to have known they were doing this to me! Marcelle, tu ne m’aimes pas encore? You’ve put me in such a tight fix!

(I might be less angry if their upcoming makeup collection was awesome but their new skincare additions sucked. Nope, no such luck… I love ’em all. But that’s another story for another day!)

How-to:

Start by priming the eyes and skin. For the eyes, cover the lid with a wash of mid-toned red-violet. Then, use a fluffy brush to buff a deep indigo-violet into the outer V and slightly into the crease. Add a shimmery copper-pink to the center of the lid, and blend a dot of a neutral, shimmery pink-ivory to the inner corner. Finish with mascara and a bright, pigmented violet liner.

For the lips and face, tone down lips with a nude lipstick and top with a sheer pink gloss. Blot off the excess. Contour the cheekbones and add a matte, cool-toned pink for definition. Finally, blend a shimmery highlighter onto the tops of the cheekbones and finish with translucent powder.

Eye close-ups:
(Sorry, the first one totally got butchered by the sunlight — I promise it wasn’t that harsh in real life!)

And  my left eye… I feel like I never photograph this one! The lighting was a little different, hence the tones. They’re a little farther from real life (I’m not quite as… pink… as my monitor is saying I am right now,) but the colours are just oh! so pretty. How could I resist sharing this photo?
